On May 30, 2018, 17th edition of the annual “DELIGHTING CUSTOMERS IN JAPAN” business seminar, organized by the BLCCJ, will be held with the following distinguished speakers: Dr. Florian Kohlbacher (The Economist Group), Mr. Teddy Lee (Yokohama Chinatown Development Association), and Mr. Shigeru Takagaki (Delvaux Japan K.K.).

As you well know, Japan is known as one of the most challenging markets in the world. Whether your business is a start-up, long-established, or somewhere in between, you are probably confronted daily with this challenging issue: “HOW TO DELIGH CUSTOMERS?”

Dr Florian Kohlbacher is the North Asia Director of The Economist Corporate Network, managing the
Networks in Japan and South Korea.

Florian is an internationally renowned expert on global business and consumer trends, focusing on how to
manage innovation, strategy, sustainability and change. He is particularly well known for his work on
ageing and business and how companies can strategically manage the challenges and opportunities of
population ageing and other megatrends. While global in nature, Florian’s work has a strong focus on the
economies of Asia, in particular China, Japan and Korea and he has been based in Asia for the most part
of the past 18 years.

Prior to joining The Economist Group Florian was an Associate Professor of Marketing and Innovation in
the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) in China
and the Founding Director of the XJTLU Research Institute on Ageing and Society (RIAS); he also was a
Senior Research Fellow and Head of the Business & Economics Section as well as Deputy Director at the
German Institute for Japanese Studies (DIJ) Tokyo, Japan.
Florian holds both a master’s degree and a doctorate from the Vienna University of Economics and
Business (WU Vienna) and he began his career in B2B marketing in the transportation industry. Among
others, Florian is also an Adjunct Professor at Temple University, Japan Campus, Keio University and
Waseda Business School, where he teaches Asian Business, Global Marketing and Consumer Behaviour.
A fluent speaker of Japanese, Florian is also a member of the Executive Committee (Excom) for the British
Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ) as well as a member of the Executive Operating Board of the
European Business Council (EBC) in Japan.

Among many international publications, Florian is co-editor of “The Silver Market Phenomenon: Marketing
and Innovation in the Aging Society”, 2nd edition, co-author of “Advertising in the Aging Society:
Understanding Representations, Practitioners, and Consumers in Japan”, and author of “International
Marketing in the Network Economy: A Knowledge-Based Approach”

Teddy Lee is the CEO of Rose Hotel Yokohama and the Chungking
Szechwan Chinese Restaurant brand, a chain of 16 restaurants
located in Yokohama, Tokyo, Okayama and Nagoya. The Chungking
brand also manufactures food and confectionery items that are sold
nationwide at their souvenir shops and online.

He is not only focused in the tourism business but also actively
involved in the development of the Yokohama community. He is
currently the Chairman of the Yokohama Chinatown Development
Association and the Director of Yokohama Convention Visitors
Bureau.

Teddy is a graduate of National Taiwan University.

Shigeru Takagaki

Shigeru Takagaki started his career in 1994 firstly at A.P. Moller-Maersk,
known as the biggest shipping company in the world. Based in Japan, Shigeru
was at first in charge of container stowage planning, shipping operation,
and later as an account executive and 3PL (3rd party logistics) Supply
Chain Management project manager for various clients.

In 1998, Shigeru joined Louis Vuitton in Japan in its logistics department.
Since then, he has been working in the Luxury & Fashion industry for nearly
2 decades including Louis Vuitton, LVMH Fashion Group, and Berluti, as
well as including 2 years of mission in Paris. Shigeru has accumulated
widely diversified experience in Logistics, Supply Chain management,
Product Quality, After Sales Services, as well as in Digital Marketing
(Web & Mobile), and in different modes of Retail such as Store operations,
E-Commerce, Customer Service Center, and Call Center (Phone Shopping).
Shigeru has been in current position since May 2017.

His presentation will be mainly focused on “How to delight Japanese
Customers”, mainly from the view point of Products, Quality, Services,
In-Store environment, as well as current challenges and future
opportunities for such an ultimate luxury maison – Delvaux.
