The Polish National Chopin University of Music (formerly the Chopin Academy of Music, the Chopin Conservatory, and the Warsaw Conservatory) is a music university located in the capital, Warsaw. It is the oldest and largest academy in Poland. In Japan, it is also known as the Warsaw Conservatory and the Chopin Conservatory. It changed to its current name in 1979. In the past, when it was the Warsaw Conservatory, Chopin was a student there, and the university has produced many famous musicians, including Kyohei Sorita, who won second place in the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition to be held in 2021.
The Chamber Orchestra was founded in 2017 and its artistic direction is entrusted to conductor Rafał Janiak. The composition of the orchestra was based on the idea of a careful selection of musicians, allowing the ensemble to present highly diverse and often revelatory programs.
The members are outstanding students selected through repeated auditions. The orchestra has been conducted by such outstanding conductors as Grzegorz Nowak and Michal Krauza, and has achieved many successes. Since its inception, the orchestra has been actively involved in concert activities, and has especially performed pieces about important events in Polish history and culture.
